The Problem

Our clients were fortunate to have a remarkable plot that offered scenic views of Strangford Lough, with the distant Mourne Mountains also clearly in sight. Unfortunately, their home wasn’t configured to fully appreciate these stunning views.

The existing bungalow didn’t align with the vision they had for their home. They wanted to transform it into a spacious residence featuring showcase reception rooms, a unique custom oak staircase, and a generously sized master bedroom, among other improvements.

Our clients also wanted to create a welcoming environment where their adult children could comfortably host their friends. The existing single living room made this impossible.

The existing house also lacked a large outdoor patio area for taking in the beautiful, rural setting and for entertaining during the summer months.

The existing house was in a very exposed position on top of a hill, and would therefore benefit greatly from modern building and insulation techniques.

The Solution

Our project involved a complete reconfiguration of the original building, coupled with a substantial two-story extension. This added two generously sized reception rooms, an office, an extra bedroom, an additional bathroom, and a striking atrium entrance hallway featuring a handcrafted oak staircase.

Several custom-designed, premium aluminium ‘lift & slide’ doors were expertly installed. These specialised doors were tailored to optimise the glass surface area and reduce the aluminium framework, ensuring unobstructed views of Strangford Lough.

We further enhanced the property by transforming an existing attic space into a large master bedroom, complete with an ensuite shower room and a private balcony.

We constructed two breathtaking first-floor balconies that offered our clients uninterrupted views of Strangford Lough, the Mourne Mountains, and Scrabbo Tower. These custom balconies were unique showpieces, adding a truly distinctive touch to our client’s home.

Using reclaimed natural stone paving we crafted a charming outdoor patio area that is perfect for entertaining guests during the warmer months. We also laid meandering stone paths for traversing our client’s expansive gardens.
